Awesome Magazines for Ideas and Inspiration
When I hear the word magazine…the first thing that comes to mind is information overload, busy, cluttered, Cosmo, and all those other girly pop tons-of-completely-useless information subscriptions. But, believe it or not there are actually a few very nice magazines out there…they just aren’t on the shelves at your local Walmart. Magazines are a great way to keep up on current trends and as far as design goes they are an unparalleled source of inspiration and ideas. And many times you’ll find information in them that you can’t find online. Below are a list of a few magazines that I really enjoy.
1. Objekt – a premium publication for interior design and architecture with editorial features from around the world. It is highly appreciated by the high-end consumer with a developed interest in quality interior and architecture items.
2. Good – is a collaboration of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits pushing the world forward. Since 2006 they’ve been making a magazine, videos, and events for people who give a damn. Their website is an ongoing exploration of what GOOD is and what it can be.
3. Make – the first magazine devoted entirely to DIY technology projects. It unites, inspires and informs a growing community of resourceful people who undertake amazing projects in their backyards, basements, and garages.
4. FOUND – collects found stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids’ homework, to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, doodles– anything that gives a glimpse into someone else’s life. Anything goes.
5. Fast Company – sets the agenda, charting the evolution of business through a unique focus on the most creative individuals sparking change in the marketplace. By uncovering best and “next” practices, the magazine and website help a new breed of leader work smarter and more effectively.
